The 5th annual Side Out Classic brings more great regular season volleyball to the state
The one-day, 17-match showcase Hopkins’ Lindbergh Center features great bragging rights battles between 34 top teams from across the state
HOPKINS, Minn. (August 21, 2018) – For the fifth straight year, BREAKDOWN SPORTS USA is bringing the annual premier season-opening one-day showcase to high school volleyball in Minnesota. Thirty-four top teams from across the state will begin their season at our 5th annual Side Out Classic. The one-day showcase at Hopkins High School’s Lindbergh Center on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018 features 17 matches on three courts, beginning at 9 a.m. and running through the evening.
Only the best programs in the state are invited, featuring 14 teams that are listed among the top-14 in the Breakdown preseason coaches poll, including all three No. 1 teams (Champlin Park in Class 3A, North Branch in Class 2A, and Minneota in Class 1A). It’s a cross-section of the best teams in the state from all three classes.
The matches will be held at Hopkins Lindbergh Center, attached to Hopkins High School. Each team will play one “unique” match against an opponent they may not see in conference or section play. The goal of this event is to open the high school season with unusual and great match-ups between premier programs
