Shakopee prides itself on its defensive game and it was in full force Saturday afternoon at the Breakdown Sports Tip Off Classic at Minnetonka High School.  The Sabers limited high-scoring Orono with a stifling defense, winning 64-51.

Jason Perkins led the way on offense with 17 points, while Dylan Ulferts (14) and Ben Foss (11) each had double-digit efforts.  They were key as the Sabers raced out to a 30-12 lead midway through the first half.  But Orono slowly chipped away, finding a way to create space in the tough Shakopee defense.

Jordan Smith (15 points) and Brady Wohler (14) paced Orono, which closed to within six points late in the second half.  But the Spartans couldn't complete the comeback, as Shakopee made its free throws.  Foss was solid from the line, hitting 7-of-10 in the second half.
