The 1st annual Winter Lakes Classic showcases 14 boys’ and girls’ basketball teams at new Alexandria High School

The Breakdown introduces its newest in-season basketball event, featuring four top boys’ games and three great girls’ games on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016

ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (Feb. 4, 2016) – BREAKDOWN SPORTS USA is already known for bringing Minnesota high school basketball fans the best in-season events in the state, and our newest event is sure to add to that legacy. The BREAKDOWN is bringing together 14 top boys’ and girls’ basketball teams for the 1st annual WINTER LAKES CLASSIC, a one-day showcase at Alexandria High School on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016. The event features four games between top boys’ basketball teams and three games between great girls’ teams in one day.

Three sets of games feature boys’ and girls’ teams from the same schools going head-to-head, with Mt. Iron Buhl facing Browerville, St. Croix Lutheran taking on Sauk Centre, and Edina squaring off with Alexandria. The Mt. Iron-Buhl versus Browerville girls’ matchup features two teams both ranked in the top-10 in Class 1A, with the Rangers sitting at No. 2 and Browerville at No. 8. The Browerville boys are also ranked No. 7 in Class A in the latest poll, while St. Croix Lutheran’s boys are No. 1 in Class 2A. Rounding out the ranked girls’ teams participating, Sauk Centre is No. 2 in Class 2A and Alexandria is No. 8 in Class 3A.

The WINTER LAKES CLASSIC is the newest of our special annual basketball events. In mid-February every year, we're planning to bring teams from across the state to the beautiful new Alexandria High School facilities for a day of top basketball. There will be varsity games, as well as JV, sophomore and freshman level games in the auxiliary gym. It promises to be a highly-anticipated and exciting time for basketball fans from around the state.
