Minnehaha Academy and St. Cloud Cathedral will play in the east gym expected to tip off a 4:45 p.m. at the 11th annual Breakdown Tip Off Classic.
The Redhawks have played six games already winning their first four but dropping the most recent two. It was a good start to the year beating quality Class AA teams from PEM and Jordan but the recent losses to Maple River and Brooklyn Center showed they have some work to do before they can be talked about as amongst the Class AA best (those teams are also Class AA)…
Cathedral is off to an outstanding start winning their first six games highlighted by a home win over Albany in overtime two days ago…Brindley Theisen is scoring 24 a game and getting some quality help from Bryant Bohlig who is supporting with 17 a contest after his transfer from St. Cloud Tech…
Freshman big man JaVonni Bickham has scored 17.2 points per contest thus far supported by ten a game from Jalen Suggs, and nine a game from both Trenton McCarthy andJake Richardson…Cathedral is ranked second in Class AA…
Brindley Theisen/Bryant Bohlig, St. Cloud Cathedral vs Jalen Suggs/Benny Larry/Trenton McCarthy, Minnehaha Academy
This is the full grouping of wings and they will all be very key. Minnehaha is going to get more production inside so the Redhawk guards have to slow Theisen and Bohlig from getting their 40 or 45 a game.
Why St. Cloud Cathedral will win: A much more experienced team led by a future St. Cloud State Huskie guard, the Crusaders also have won every game so far so they come in confident. .
Why Minnehaha Academy will win: This will be a motivated bunch playing in front of their peers. They have the talent to win, but it’s young so how will they handle the big stage environment will be key.
