Preview

Chanhassen has lost three of five thus far dropping games at Apple Valley and East Ridge and getting upset at home by Burnsville.  The Storm beat Sibley and Buffalo.  Chanhassen will play Minnetonka on their home floor at seven…

Tonka is 3-1 so far with a nice win over Rice Lake but a loss at home against Apple Valley.  They also have their conference opener the night before against Edina also on their home floor…The Skippers have four players scoring in double figures led by the 26.5 from shooter Seth Coatta, the 14.5 from lead guard Amar Miller, and the supporting 14.5 from Justin Moes and 12 a game from Cedric Boone…

Joey Witthus is averaging 17.4 so far this season which is about five below the pace from last year.  He is the lone Storm player in double figures although Chad Mapes, Ben Khwice, Max Hutton, and IsaiahKent-Schneider are all giving between 7 and 10 a contest…Tonka is ranked 10th in Class AAAA...

Key Matchup

Joey Witthus, Chanhassen vs Tonka D

Witthus can beat you inside and out.  Tonka could guard him with Moes but he’s much smaller or Tonka could go with a bigger player like Leibl who is able to move his feet but not as well as a guard.  Weiss is a combo of both and he’ll see him too.

Prediction

Why Minnetonka will win:  Tonka has way more guard skill than Chanhassen as they will have with speed (Miller), best shooter in state (Coatta), defender and shooter (Moes), and crafty combo (Boone).

Why Chanhassen will win: Chanhassen can go much bigger as Witthus can play three or four spots and be productive at those spots meaning the Storm could have Joey scoring on smaller players and their beef controlling the paint.
