St. Michael Albertville survives Lakeville North 53-48
Lakeville North and St. Michael-Albertville played a frantically played game at the Breakdown Tip Off Classic Saturday afternoon, and the Knights scored the last five points of the game to erase a 48-47 Panthers' lead.
Polly Sjoberg, who scored 10 second half points off the North bench, and Temi Carda each made 1-of-2 FT to give North its one-point lead at 1:17. Bobbi Brendefur scored on a beautiful dribble drive from the right elbow to the left side of the rim at :50. Kitri Zezza hit two FT and Sydney Tracy 1-of-2 to close out the scoring, North turned it over on two of their final three possessions and didn’t get off another shot.
STMA led 23-16 midway through the first half but Lakeville North fought back to tie at 26. STMA also had the biggest lead of the second half at 31-26 but again North tied things up, setting the state for Brendefur’s game-winner.
The fast pace and physical play affected shooting percentages both ways. North shot just 5-of-21 in the second half. St. Michael shot 9-of-28 in the first half and 6-of-24 in the second. The Knights had more opportunities to score by virtue of winning the turnover battle with 13 to North's 20.
Tracy led St. Micheal with 20 points. Brendefur added 11. Carda had 14 and Sjoberg 10 for Lakeville North.
