5:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6 at Hopkins' Lindbergh Center West Court

Preview

The three-time defending champions in Minnesota’s Class AAA division (DeLaSalle) takes on North Scott, Iowa, meaning two of the elite backcourts in the upper Midwest will go head to head.

North Scott played its first game of the year Tuesday in Dubuque in preparation for Saturday while the Islanders first game was also Tuesday as they faced an improved Brooklyn Center team.

Both teams have line-ups full of scholarship talent and they will give each other one of their top challenges of the season.

Key Matchup

Marlon Stewart, North Scott vs Jarvis Johnson, DeLaSalle

Stewart is headed to Creighton, Johnson is on his way to Minnesota.   Both are three star prospects according to Rivals.com headed to the High Major level.

Cortez Seales, North Scott vs Josh Collins, DeLaSalle

This match-up is also worthy of mention because both are headed to North Dakota and both are wings.   As future teammates it will be fun to watch them go at it.

Prediction

Why DeLaSalle will win: They are three-time defending champs with one of the elite defensive coaches in the nation.  If they are ready to go as a group without Reid Travis they will give their opponents a defense they’ve never seen.  They also have scholarship talent in the frontcourt.

Why North Scott will win:  DeLaSalle is missing a McDonald’s All American they must adjust for, while North Scott has a ton of seniors who have played together for a long time.  They may not have as big of an adjustment.
