Match-ups and times announced for 4th annual Side Out Classic

The 4th annual Side Out Classic brings more great regular season volleyball to the state

The one-day, 17-match showcase Hopkins’ Lindbergh Center features great bragging rights battles between 34 top teams from across the state

HOPKINS, Minn. (July 17, 2017) – For the fourth straight year, BREAKDOWN SPORTS USA is bringing the annual premier season-opening one-day showcase to high school volleyball in Minnesota. Thirty-four top teams from across the state will begin their season at our 4th annual Side Out Classic. The one-day showcase at Hopkins High School’s Lindbergh Center on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 features 17 matches on three courts, beginning at 9 a.m. and running through the evening.

Only the best programs in the state are invited, featuring teams that are listed highly in our preseason rankings, including three of the top-five programs in Class AAA (No. 2 Prior Lake, No. 4 Stillwater Area, and No. 5 Champlin Park).  In fact, we have invited. In all, we have 13 teams ranked in our preseason top-15 rankings. It’s a cross-section of the best Twin Cities and non-Metro teams in the state from all three classes.

The matches will be held at Hopkins Lindbergh Center, attached to Hopkins High School.  Each team will play one “unique” match against an opponent they may not see in conference or section play.  The goal of this event is to open the high school season with unusual and great match-ups between premier programs — and fill the stands in a great tournament atmosphere.

BREAKDOWN SPORTS and its annual publications are Minnesota's No. 1 resource for players, coaches, fans and sports enthusiasts.  The BREAKDOWN is a full-service high school sports company, offering season preview publications, in-season premier events, off-season leagues, great photography and an extensive website with news and notes.  We’re in our 16th year of covering boys’ and girls’ basketball, 10th year in girls’ volleyball and boys’ hockey and 4th year in boys’ baseball.  The goal of the BREAKDOWN is simple: We want to offer players, coaches and fans a complete sports resource for high school sports.
