The Breakdown

Team Name: Osseo Orioles
Head Coach: Tim Theisen, 11th year
Current Record: 14-2 (Through Jan. 30)
Ranked: No. 4 among 4A schools by Minnesota Basketball News
Notes: The defending Class AAAA champs returned several key players and so far it’s lead to a 14-2 record entering February.  The Orioles have won 11 of 12 conference games including their last seven contests.  They dropped games to the top two ranked teams in state (Park Center and Apple Valley) but have beaten everyone else.
Point guard Bridge Tusler and big man Ian Theisen are at the heart of everything the Orioles do.  Ian is producing 16.4 points and 10.9 rebounds per game while Tulser scores 14 points a contest with nearly eight assists and four steals per showing.  The duo combined on last year’s buzzer beating state championship play with Tusler feeding Theisen and they’ve continued their high level play into 2012-13.
As usual Osseo has had numerous players few had heard of step into roles and perform. Senior four man Malik Wilson is scoring six a game and is the team’s second leading rebounder while Rakeem Felder often provides Osseo with a fourth scoring option.  Also, DeLaSalle transfer Wheeler Baker is putting up 16 points a contest in his first varsity season providing the slashing, scoring role that needed to be filled.
