When this game was set up the thought process included a battle of two of the top Class A teams in Minnesota and two of the best guards in class A basketball. Both teams are still going to be contenders in March but those guards (Darrian Pittman and Nathaniel Huot) will not be in uniform. Pittman has since transferred to Bloomington Kennedy while Huot has broken bones in his hand that will keep him out until 2012.

This game will still be entertaining as MCA will bring sophomore standout Josh Goldschmidt, the latest Hanson to wear Mustang red (Isaiah), and shooter Jamey Hammond. To counter Dawson-Boyd will use hard working 2014 forward Joey Lee, constantly attacking Zach Stelter, and they would have had Huot to match the treys of Hammons but once again, he’s not expected to play.

This could be a state tournament preview game although Dawson-Boyd is in the same section as MACCRAY, Ellsworth, and Southwest Christian. The Blackjacks will have momentum on their side after a state tournament football run but on the other hand, the Class A section four semi-finals may be as good as the Class A state tournament semi-finals. MCA’s section four challengers will be Minnesota Transitions, Minneapolis North, and Prairie Seed Academy.
