The Josh Streit file

  • Name: Josh Streit
  • School: Eden Valley-Watkins
  • Class: Junior
  • Honors: Breakdown Top 75 juniors
  • Coach comment: "Josh made a big step forward from freshman to sophomore year, and i am expecting the same coming into his junior year. Josh can play inside or outside, making him a very difficult matchup for any team we play this winter. If Josh works hard and continues to progress, he could be one of the top players in the area." — Eden Valley-Watkins coach Adam Langer

Q and A

Give me a short scouting report on yourself as a player. What are your strengths?

  • I can play inside and out. I can shoot and dribble but the best part about my game is my passing. I always try to make the extra pass and the right pass. I also can block shots and play good back side defense.

Can you tell us one unusual thing about yourself that others may not know?

  • I live on a farm with about 400 beef cattle.

What's the best part of playing high school basketball and why?

  • I love being in the gym playing ball with my friends. Also I love playing hard and competing against good completion.

Tell me about the outlook for your team this year. What are the strengths of your team?

  • We will be a pretty spread out team. We will be a nightmare match up with our starting five all over 6'0". Our good fundamental defense and being able to change in between zones and man will be a big factor for us.

What other activities are you involved in at the high school level?

  • Basketball, football, Student Council, and Investment Club.

What type of training do you do in the offseason?

  • I play AAU basketball, summer high school league, and summer workouts.

Breakdown featuring our daily spotlight players

Every weekday until the official high school sports seasons begin (an unknown date with the current world situation), BREAKDOWN SPORTS will be featuring a spotlight player in each of the seven sports we cover!

With the high school sports world on pause, THE BREAKDOWN wants to make sure these athletes are recognized for their accomplishments on the field, court, rink, diamond, etc.

The schedule of spotlight players will be as follows:

  • Monday: softball
  • Tuesday: baseball
  • Wednesday: girls' volleyball
  • Thursday: boys' and girls' basketball
  • Friday: boys' and girls' hockey

Each of our spotlight players will have action and posed photos, as well as the Q and A information they provided for this past year's Breakdown book in their respective sport.
