Q and A

Give me a short scouting report on yourself as a player. What are your strengths?

  • As far as personal player strengths go, I think I'm most known for being a pitcher that has a strong command of her pitches, who plays with passion, and has a big range of speeds, which keeps batters on their toes. Every year I try to bring something new to the high school softball season that batters haven't seen from me before too.

Can you tell us one unusual thing about yourself that others may not know?

  • My softball friends usually call me "G." When I'm not at softball you might find me marching with my high school band or riding snowmobiles up north.

What's the best part of playing high school softball and why?

  • The best part of playing high school softball is the ability to play your favorite sport with your best friends and know that the friends you make through softball are true friends because you have been through everything with them. From the long bus rides to games, the fun celebrations after, and everything in between when playing this sport is what really builds those special bonds.

Tell me about the outlook for your team this year. What are the strengths of your team?

  • I'm really looking forward to my 4th year pitching on varsity and I'm proud of what we've accomplished together as a team these past 3 years. In 2017 we earned our 1st conference championship and in 2018 and 2019 we earned back-to-back section championships. Our team really grew close last year and we lost some great seniors that will be very missed. By continuing to support each other through the ups and downs of this game, I think we honestly could have one of our best seasons yet in 2020! Some key strengths of our team is our four competitive offensive starter Captain seniors, with Maddie Johnson behind the plate, Abby Jones at second, Anna Schaidler in the outfield and Katie Simon as an amazing 1st base and utility player. Our infield is pretty stacked. We also have many upcoming younger pitchers that I love working with that will be taking turns dominating in the circle, like Bella Miller, Alexa Venne and Abby Richter.
