Maple Grove's playmaking forward

The Chloe Corbin file

  • Name: Chloe Corbin
  • School: Maple Grove
  • Class: Senior
  • Honors: Breakdown Super 100 seniors
  • Coach comment: "Chloe is a player that we put on the ice against our opponent's top players. Chloe's hockey IQ is high and she does not allow opponents to create high end scoring opportunities due to her ability to read the game. Chloe is an exceptional skater that can score. She often scores big goals when we need to score. Her vision allows her to be a playmaker. Chloe is one of the most underrated players in the game." — Maple Grove coach Amber Hegland

Q and A

Give me a short scouting report on yourself as a player. What are your strengths?

  • I have a strong work ethic and play hard at both ends of the rink. I am passionate about teamwork - systems, moving the puck, aggressive defense, etc.. I have a knack for making big plays in critical game situations - stealing the puck, making the pass, or scoring the goal - whatever it takes to get the win.

Can you tell us one unusual thing about yourself that others may not know?

  • My friends and coaches call me Dog. The nickname ChloDog was given to me by my family when I was four years old. It was later shortened to just Dog and it has stuck ever since.

What's the best part of playing high school hockey and why?

  • The compete level. The State of Hockey has the most competitive high school hockey in the country and it is very fun to be a part of that. I also love my entire high school's hockey community - I have met some great friends that I will keep in touch with forever.

Tell me about the outlook for your team this year. What are the strengths of your team?

  • We are a very close knit group and we have a lot of chemistry, given that many of us have played together the past few years. We should have a very talented group of forwards - we expect to find the back of the net often in this upcoming season.

What other activities are you involved in at the high school level?

  • I play lacrosse in the spring and am also a Link Crew leader.

What type of training do you do in the offseason?

  • I put a big emphasis on weight training with my team during the summer, along with working to improve the basics like my skating stride, shooting and stick handling skills.
