The Will Busch file

  • Name: Will Busch
  • School: New Prague
  • Class: Senior
  • Honors: Breakdown Super 100 seniors, Class AAAA All-Breakdown, Mr. Baseball Watch List
  • Coach comment: "Will does a great job behind the plate. His blocking and receiving skills are hard to find at the high school level. He also displays a strong arm and quick release to throw out baserunners. At the plate, he uses his strength for gap to gap power, and he has been consistent with driving in runs." — New Prague coach Tanner Oakes

Q and A

Give me a short scouting report on yourself as a player. What are your strengths?

  • I would say my strengths would include being a defensive catcher. I also consider one of my strengths as driving runs in when runners in scoring position.

Can you tell us one unusual thing about yourself that others may not know?

  • Some of my hobbies that people may not know is I love to hunt and fish, and just being outside.

What's the best part of playing high school baseball and why?

  • The best part about playing high school baseball is being with your teammates and competing for your high school. Being able to go to practice every day after school and getting better and forgetting about school for those two hours.

Tell me about the outlook for your team this year. What are the strengths of your team?

  • The outlook of our team this year is we return a lot from last year. We return some really solid pitching, and look to put up lots of runs.

What other activities are you involved in at the high school level?

  • I am involved in football and wrestling.

What type of training do you do in the offseason?

  • I train at ETS-south metro where I train for strength and speed. I also do all my baseball training at the cages in Burnsville with Mike Kvasnicka.
