Edina's go-to senior

The Tella Jungels file

  • Name: Tella Jungels
  • School: Edina
  • Class: Senior
  • Honors: Breakdown Super 100 seniors, Class AA All-Breakdown honorable mention, Miss Hockey Watch List
  • Coach comment: "Tella is someone that has been such a pleasure to watch grow in the last couple of years. She comes ready to work hard every day and you know that she will give you 110% every shift. This past year, Tella was a huge reason to our success. She not only came up big for us with some huge goals, but she did so many "little things" that were big game changers in really critical moments of important games." — Edina coach Sami Reber

Q and A

Give me a short scouting report on yourself as a player. What are your strengths?

  • I am quick and have a good hockey IQ. Moving the puck and making plays are some of my strengths. I also bring energy and a work ethic to every game and practice.

Can you tell us one unusual thing about yourself that others may not know?

  • I know how to juggle!

What's the best part of playing high school hockey and why?

  • The best part of high school hockey is all the fun memories and winning! The off ice memories in the locker room are definitely one of the best parts of the season. Obviously, the playoffs and the state tournaments are super fun to be a part of and even more special to win.

Tell me about the outlook for your team this year. What are the strengths of your team?

  • I have a good outlook on our season this coming year! We have great returners that will fill some larger roles this coming season and there is some great younger talent coming up this year. Moreover, we will have experience under our belt from our returning players and coaches. We also have an unbeatable work ethic as we are a major target for other teams. Our team will rely on quickness and smart plays just like we have in the past.

What type of training do you do in the offseason?

  • I play for the Junior Whitecaps Black team in the spring and summer. I also play in the Elite League for Elite Grey. For off-ice training, I work with Curt Meiers. I also do skill work with Scott Bjugstad and Andy Ness.

Breakdown featuring our daily spotlight players

Every weekday until the official high school sports seasons begin (an unknown date with the current world situation), BREAKDOWN SPORTS will be featuring a spotlight player in each of the seven sports we cover!

With the high school sports world on pause, THE BREAKDOWN wants to make sure these athletes are recognized for their accomplishments on the field, court, rink, diamond, etc.

The schedule of spotlight players will be as follows:

  • Monday: softball
  • Tuesday: baseball
  • Wednesday: girls' volleyball
  • Thursday: boys' and girls' basketball
  • Friday: boys' and girls' hockey

Each of our spotlight players will have action and posed photos, as well as the Q and A information they provided for this past year's Breakdown book in their respective sport.
