The one-day, 16-match showcase at Hopkins High School features great bragging rights battles between 32 top teams from across the state
HOPKINS, Minn. (May 9, 2020) – For the seventh straight year, BREAKDOWN SPORTS USA is bringing the annual premier season-opening one-day showcase to high school volleyball in Minnesota. Thirty-two top teams from across the state will begin their season at our 7th annual Side Out Classic. The one-day showcase at Hopkins High School on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020 features 16 matches on three courts, beginning at 9 a.m. and running through the evening.
Only the best programs in the state are invited, featuring 12 teams that are listed among the top-15 in the Breakdown preseason poll, including top-ranked and defending Class 1A state champion Minneota. It’s a cross-section of the best teams in the state from all three classes.
Each team will play one unique match against an opponent they may not see in conference or section play. The goal of this event is to open the high school season with unusual and great match-ups between premier programs.
BREAKDOWN SPORTS and its annual publications are Minnesota's No. 1 resource for players, coaches, fans and sports enthusiasts. The BREAKDOWN is a full-service high school sports company, offering season preview publications, in-season premier events, off-season leagues, great photography and an extensive website with news and notes. We’re in our 19th year of covering boys’ and girls’ basketball, 13th year in girls’ volleyball and boys’ hockey, 7th year in boys’ baseball, 4th year in softball, and 3rd in girls’ hockey. The goal of the BREAKDOWN is simple: We want to offer players, coaches and fans a complete sports resource for high school sports.
