The Breakdown’s Granite City Classic remains one of the most popular holiday tournaments in the state, now featuring both girls’ and boys’ games at sites across the St. Cloud area

CLEAR LAKE, Minn. (Dec. 9, 2019) – High school basketball fans seeking a post-holiday treat need look no further than the BREAKDOWN SPORTS Granite City Classic. The scripted three-day showcase at St. Cloud Apollo and St. Cloud Tech High Schools, St. John’s University and St. Cloud State University on Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 26-28, 2019 features dozens of games between top teams from around the state of Minnesota — both boys and girls.

On the girls’ side, we’ve pulled together a terrific lineup that is highlighted by Class 3A state runner-up Becker, currently ranked No. 2 in Class 3A, along with No. 4-1A ranked Henning. Teams from across the St. Cloud area will play against each other — and teams from the Twin Cities (such as Anoka and Spring Lake Park), Duluth East, Hutchinson, Pine City and other areas of the state. Games will run on Dec. 26 and 27 at St. Cloud Tech High School and Dec. 26 at St. Cloud Apollo High School.

In addition to Henning’s top-ranking, seven other teams are currently ranked by Minnesota Basketball in their latest poll: No. 2-4A Park Center, No. 4-4A Prior Lake, No. 3-3A Mankato East, No. 9-3A Mound Westonka, No. 6-2A Cristo Rey Jesuit, No. 2-1A BOLD, and No. 5-1A Cass Lake-Bena. Games will run on Dec. 26- 27 at St. Cloud Apollo High School, Dec. 26 and 28 at St. Cloud Tech High School, and Dec. 27-28 at St. Cloud State University and St. John’s University.
