Thank you for choosing to participate in the 2021 Breakdown/MYAS Freshman State Championships and we wish your team the best of luck. As the leader of your team, we encourage you to lead in a way that reflects positively on your school team. Please see the reminder below.

1. Follow all COVID-19 protocols found in the Freshman State Championships Fan Guide that will be available starting March 15th.
2. Two Coaches, 1 Scorekeeper and 14 spectators must have a wristband to enter the facility.
3. The wristbands are for the entire day. Please remind everyone with your team to secure them around your wrist.
4. Coaches will enter first and bring the team roster and waiver forms to the Event Director, then will go to the Host Site table to receive the coaches, scorekeeper and spectator wristbands.
5. No player can be on a Varsity or Playoff Roster to be eligible to play in this event. 
6. Your team is participating in a Conduct 1st Environment (Sportsmanship and COVID Compliance) this weekend.

Remember… It’s about the kids, keep your competitive energy in check and treat officials and opponent’s w/respect.

1. Remind everyone on your team to properly wear their mask/face covering.
2. Congregating near the entrance is strictly prohibited.
3. Exit the facility immediately when your game(s) is completed.
4. Each team must provide a scorekeeper. One person is responsible for operating the score clock while the other person will fill out the official MYAS score sheet.
   1. Home Team- Listed on the top of the bracket, will wear dark jerseys, and their scorekeeper is responsible for operating the score clock.
   2. Visiting Team- Listed on the bottom of the bracket, will wear white jerseys, and scorekeeper is responsible for filling out the official MYAS scoresheet.
5.  Complete the game scoresheet prior to each game.
   1. Include jersey number, first initial and last name.
6. Enjoy the experience.

Breakdown/MYAS Game Rules

• 20-minute running time first half
• 20-minute running time second half, except during the last two minutes if the score difference is 15 points or less (then stop time)
• Three (3) timeouts per team per game
• Halftime will be 3 minutes
• Foul rules are the same as high school. Seven (7) for the bonus, ten (10) for the double bonus.
• Players are permitted five (5) fouls before fouling out.
• Free Throw Rule (New) Players will shoot 1 FT for 2 or 3 points (Bonus and Shooting fouls) during the running time portion.  Under 2 minutes (Stop time), then players will shoot the normal 2 shots or one and one free throws.  A player fouled on a made basket will shoot 1 shot.
• Overtime is Two minutes stop time.  One Timeout per overtime no carry overs.  If game is still tied after overtime, the first team to score two points will be the winner.  Clock will be turned off.
• One (1) technical foul for player or coach; One shot for two points and the ball taken out of bounds.
• Two (2) technical fouls in same game for player or coach; disqualified for the rest of the day and One shot for two points and the ball taken out of bounds.
