Welcome to our Minnesota high school basketball player rankings!  On the girls' player rankings and boys' player rankings pages are the free previews of our Top 5 rankings for boys and girls players in Minnesota. We've also now unveiled our full rankings site, which features even more expanded lists of hundreds of players (both boys and girls) from across the state, along with additional information and comments from our team of experts. Please see our FAQ section for specific questions regarding the rankings.

NOTE: We are currently having issues with our web provider that houses the player photos. We're currently working on the issue, but in the meantime the player photos are not visible. We apologize for any inconvenience.

    Player ranking FAQ

Q: Already have an account and need to log in?
    A:
Please log in in the far upper left-hand corner of this page (above the Breakdown page header) using your username/password to view the rankings pages behind the paywall. The current page is part of our free preview only.

Q: Want your event posted in our "Where To See 'Em" section?
    A:
Please send information on the event, including its name, dates, location, contact with email, website and teams participating to girlsbasketball@breakdownsportsusa.com or boysbasketball@breakdownsportsusa.com. It's free to list your event on our pages. These are viewed by all subscribers -- from college coaches to basketball junkies across the United States.

Q: Who selects the players on the list?
    A:
Our player rankings are compiled by a staff of 10 people, including members of the basketball media and high school coaches from all levels. We also have at least one member from the northern, southern, central and metro areas of the state.

Q: How much does this list change from week to week?
    A:
Changes will occur frequently. Players can move or moved down once they are observed and reported on by one of or many experts.

Q: What are the rankings based upon, high school prowess or college potential?
    A:
These rankings are based solely on the recommendations on the players prospect ability at the COLLEGE level. The accomplishments of the high school career is not the main core factor of determining where they are ranked or listed.

    Q: Who views these rankings?
    A:
The Breakdown has one of the largest distributions of college contacts in Minnesota. Our fall publications get sent to over 400 colleges across the country. Our publications went to 47 different states in 2011. Our rankings are viewed and analyzed by these colleges around the country. We're viewed by Division I, II, III, NAIA and Junior Colleges.

Q: Are these rankings NCAA compliant?
    A:
Yes, we've gone through the NCAA vetting process and our site is fully compliant and approved by the NCAA.

Q: How do I get ranked?
    A:
Even with our large staff, it is still difficult to get out and see everyone statewide.  If you would like to be considered for our rankings, please send us the following:

    1. Full varsity game tape (highlights tapes will not be watched)
    2. Game program and/or rosters for BOTH teams playing.
