Welcome to our Minnesota and Upper Midwest high school basketball player rankings! On the girls' player rankings and boys' player rankings pages are the free previews of our Top 5 rankings for boys and girls players in the senior, junior and sophomore classes within Minnesota. We've also now unveiled our full rankings site, which features even more expanded lists of hundreds of players (both boys and girls) from across the region (including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and North and South Dakota), along with additional information and comments from our team of experts. Q: Who selects the players on the list?
A: Our player rankings are compiled by a staff of 10 people, including members of the basketball media and high school coaches from all levels. We also have at least one member from the northern, southern, central and metro areas of the state.
Q: How much does this list change from week to week?
A: Changes will occur frequently. Players can move or moved down once they are observed and reported on by one of or many experts.
Q: What are the rankings based upon, high school prowess or college potential?
A: These rankings are based solely on the recommendations on the players prospect ability at the COLLEGE level. The accomplishments of the high school career is not the main core factor of determining where they are ranked or listed.
Q: Who views these rankings?
A: The Breakdown has one of the largest distributions of college contacts in Minnesota. Our fall publications get sent to over 400 colleges across the country. Our publications went to 47 different states in 2011. Our rankings are viewed and analyzed by these colleges around the country. We're viewed by Division I, II, III, NAIA and Junior Colleges.
Q: Are these rankings NCAA compliant?
A: Yes, we've gone through the NCAA vetting process and our site is fully compliant and approved by the NCAA.
