Preview

Game time is set for 1:45 in the east gym of Minnetonka for the Breakdown's Tip Off Classic matchup between Crosby-Ironton and Braham.

Braham is coached by Bob Vaughan, Crosby-Ironton is coached by Dave Galovich.  These are two of the elite northern Minnesota coaches, two of elite small school coaches, heck, they are two of the elite coaches of all time.  Hall of Famers.  Fun game….

Braham is undefeated, winning games by an average of 39 points a contest.  They’ve beaten Aitikin, East Central, and Pine City.   The Bombers will play Mora the night before…C-I is 0-2 losing games to ranked teams Detroit Lakes and Hermantown who are bigger schools.  Friday night C-I plays Park Rapids at home…Braham has five guys averaging in double figures. They are led by the 23 from Chris Olson while Connor Tschumper, Alec Olson, Ryan Larson, and John Larson are all scoring between 12 and 16 a night…Noah Gindorff scores 16 a game for the Rangers while Dan Hudrlikand Jack Silgren also average double figures…Braham is ranked third in state by NHR…

Key Matchup

Jack Silgren, Crosby-Ironton vs Chris Olson, Braham

These are 6-foot-0 scoring guards with a lot of basketball left to be played. Silgren is a quality sophomore while Olson is a junior that has made a big jump in the last dozen months.

Prediction

Why C-I will win:  They have played better competition in preparation for this game and they have more size up front in Hudrlik and Silgren.

Why Braham will win:  The Bombers have so many scoring weapons all over the place that it will take a Herculean effort from the Rangers to try and limit them all.  The Larsons and Olsons can all fill it up with their touch and Tschumper is a gladiator.
