Big 67-point second half leads Benilde-St. Margaret's

Benilde-St. Margaret's 99, Lakeville South 87

MINNETONKA -- For a half it looked like Lakeville South was going to pull out their first victory of the season.  They held a ten point first half lead on the number one ranked Red Knights, South was using some defensive pressure to have success (a day after the pressure of Eden Prairie did them in), and Alex Richter was having another standout performance.  Alex scored 17 first half points and did everything within his power to keep his team ahead.  South held the Red Knights to 32 first half points and everything was looking good.

Then the bottom dropped out and for the third time this year a South team that is still somewhat young with so many juniors playing collapsed.  They would give up 67 second half points to Benilde-St. Margaret’s whose several weapons all clicked at once.

Peter Crawford exploded for 18-second half points including a pair of threes.  Isaiah Zierden produced 14 second half points including a three.  Seth Marx hit four second half three pointers.  In all the Red Knights buried nine second half triples and ultimately buried Lakeville South.

Crawford and Zierden each scored 25 points while Marx finished with 19.  Evan Battle had a nice game producing ten points.  For South Richter scored 27 for the game while Jon Christensen and Spencer Pankonin each had a dozen and Riley West put up 13.  Pankonin fouled out for the second game in a row and Richter fouled out as well.
