The "kiddie corps" of top-seeded Park Center came through in triple overtime, edging third-seeded Marshall, 73-71 in the Class 3A championship game at Williams Arena.

Class 2A championship

No. 1 NRHEG 71, No. 2 Kenyon-Wanamingo 61

Carlie Wagner capped an outstanding career by shattering her own state tournament records en route to leading NRHEG to consecutive state championships. The senior guard scored 36 points in top-seeded NRHEG's 71-61 victory over second-seeded Kenyon-Wanamingo at Williams Arena in the Class 2A championship game.

Wagner's points gave her a record 130 points this year, breaking by a single point the mark she set last winter. She also finished her career as the all-time tourney scoring leader with 371 points, surpassing New York Mills' Janet Karvonen.

NRHEG (31-0) finished the season as the only undefeated team in the state in any class. Kenyon-Wanamingo (31-2) lost just twice on the year, both to the Panthers. The Knights previously lost by seven in the regular season (67-60) and gave NRHEG its two closest games of the year.

The Wagner family (Carlie and twin freshman sisters Maddie and Marnie) combined for 52 points. Maddie Wagner added nine points and 10 rebounds and Marnie Wagner had seven points before fouling out in the final minute.

Megan Quam paced the Knights with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Siri Sviggum added 11 points and Audra Clark had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Class 1A championship

Win-E-Mac 61, No. 1 Minneota 53

Madison McKeever scored a game-high 27 points and Korbyn Ross added 17 as unseeded Win-E-Mac upset the defending Class 1A state champion, Minneota, 61-53 at Williams Arena. The Patriots (31-2) used a 17-2 run late in the first half to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Many of the same players were involved in the Class 1A volleyball state third-place game between the two schools, one that Minneota won in straight sets, 3-0. Taylor Reiss had 22 kills as the Vikings took the trophy.

In the rematch on the basketball court, the Patriots got their revenge.

McKeever continued her aggressive play in the tournament, as 10 of her 27 points came from the free throw line. In the semifinals, she set a state record with 25 free throw attempts and tied another with 20 makes. Ross hit a pair of threes during the Patriots' first-half run, which turned a 17-12 deficit into a 29-19 lead. She also hit a driving layup with 2:01 to play after Minneota had cut the lead to just 52-50.

Post Shelby Kaster had four points, but added 12 rebounds and three assists for Win-E-Mac.

Minneota (32-2) was pacd by junior Taylor Reiss (18 points, 13 rebounds) and Emily Stienessen (17 points). The Vikings were seeking to defend their Class 1A state title.
