Ava Kramer didn't know how she did it, but at the end of the night Friday, she had 24 points for a season-high and helped Elk River a lopsided victory in the process.

The Elks grabbed an 86-62 victory at Minnetonka, gaining their 23rd win of the season to stay undefeated.

"This was huge," Kramer said. "We could see Minnetonka in the state tournament, hopefully, so it was huge. Especially on the road."

Kramer and teammate Gabi Haack were a dynamic duo for Elk River (23-0, 10-0 Northwest Suburban), as both scored 24 points each. The two teammates also each had four three-pointers.

Senior guard Kelsie Cox also had a strong performance for the Elks' offense, adding 15 points including two three-pointers.

"I thought tonight they did a nice job of looking for each other, both in the fast break and in our offense," Elk River coach Jeremy Digiovanni said. "Think they really tried to be balanced offensively and put pressure on Minnetonka to defend everybody."

Kramer said she wasn't satisfied with her performance Thursday against Anoka. Her team won 72-57, but felt she could've done better than the 14 points she scored.

She beat that easily Friday night, scoring 22 alone in the first half, one more point than the Skippers (10-10, 2-3 Lake) had at halftime as a team.

"Our whole team had trouble with shots falling last night," Kramer said. "I just kind of wanted to get over that."

Minnetonka, which never led in the game, has now lost seven consecutive games.

Elk River led just 17-16 near the midway mark in the first half. Then the Elks went on a 29-5 run to lead 46-21 at halftime.

"We went and put a little more full-court pressure on and tried to speed them up a little bit," Digiovanni said. "That's what keyed it."

Kelsey Mershon scored 20 points and Megan Walker added 16 to lead Minnetonka. Hannah Fransen scored eight points, including two three-pointers, all coming off the bench in the second half.

The Skippers outscored the Elks 41-40 in the second half.

The Elks topped 85 points for the second time in three games. They have just four games left in the regular season.

"That's the type of intensity we need to have going into the playoffs," Digiovanni said. "We have to start preparing for that time of the year, and it starts tonight."
